Lady Vols Season Opener
The defending National Champs for women’s NCAA basketball kick off their regular season this Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville. The University of San Francisco ’s Dons come into Knoxville to face the #6 nationally ranked Lady Vols. Pat Summitt says her Lady Vols are as prepared as they can be for the upcoming season with the six true freshmen who don the Volunteer Orange. The raising of the National Champions’ banner before the season opener on Saturday will hopefully instill a respect for the team that went before, and encourage the positive attitude necessary to repeat last season’s success. Coach Summitt has been rigorously drilling her young team to give them the tools necessary to be winners in a real time, real competition setting. Exhibition play has seen the Lady Vols dominate both of their opponents. According to Coach Summitt, she wants to open the season in a big way on Saturday and if the two exhibition games are any indication, it can definitely happen.
