Vanderbilt Commodores Bowl Eligible

Published by richd at 10:10 pm under College, Football, Sports Edit This

The last time that the Vanderbilt University Commodores played in a bowl game, I was in the fifth grade. The year was 1982. Now, for the first time since that year, you can actually state that the Vanderbilt Commodores are bowl eligible. What this means is that they are guaranteed to appear in a bowl game this year. At this point, that bowl game has not been determined.

Another anomaly that surrounds this is the fact that the University of Tennessee Volunteers will not be bowl eligible this season. I am sure that if the Commodores are short on some towel boys or water boys, the Vols can help them out there.

For the first time in as long as I can remember, Vandy has not been someone’s punching bag this year. It seems that almost every game that they have played this year, they have been in the thick of it. The only team that they really could not handle was the Florida Gators as they basically got whooped.

This Saturday, Vandy will get a chance to give some payback to the Vols for all the years of beat downs they had to endure. The one thing that you can say about football is the fact that no one ever forgets. This year’s game is to be held in Nashville, Tennessee. Once the Commodores take care of the business at hand, they can get ready to watch the Tennessee Titans attempt to make it 11 wins in a row.
