The Favre Factor
I, like many of my fellow football fans, was exhausted by the antics of Brett Favre prior to the 2008 season. We all know the drama so I will not go into it. What I want to look at is the Favre factor in relation to the turnaround the New York Jets are enjoying over last year.
On the heels of the Jets victory over the New England Patriots this past week the jets will face this year’s surprise, an undefeated Tennessee Titans. Favre leading his 7-3 AFC East Jets into Nashville will look to end the Titans winning streak. I must admit that the 38 year old Favre has looked better than some of his much younger counterparts. While Favre cannot be given credit for all that the Jets have done so far this season, he is the leader on the field that was sorely lacking. He has racked up a passer rating of 93 with a 69.3% completion rate. Compare that with his opponent’s 82.0 passer rating and 59.0% completion rate. This is the NFL game to watch this week and may very well be a preview of post season play.

This decisive win by the Jets shows the difference between and active and involved QB and a game managing type of QB. I definitely think it could the Jets and the Giants.
