Plaxico’s season is over

Published by richd at 9:37 pm under Football, NFL, Sports Edit This

Today ended Plaxico Burress’ 2008 season. The New York Giants placed Burress on the reserve non-football injury list. This list is designed to restrict the player from practicing or returning to the team’s active roster for the remainder of the year. This decision was divuldged to Plaxico around 3:30 today and publicly announced right before 6 PM EST. The Giants General Manager Jerry Reese advised Plaxico upon his return from being examined by the team physician.

The examination determined that it would take 4 to 6 weeks for Plaxico to return and the Giants thought better of it. Plaxico actually arrived at the facility around 9:30 this morning and met individually with Giants president John Mara, general manager Jerry Reese and head coach Tom Coughlin. The decision to place Plaxico came after these meetings.

In my opinion, this suspension is the least of his worries at this point and time. He needs to get his head on straight before he ends up as a cellmate with Michael Vick.

This is one of those cases that he should really start to pay attention to. Maybe he will take heed to this warning. Who knows maybe he want.

@ Ryan, very true! He will probably bounce around a few teams now and that usually means either the players gets their act together and settles in with a new team or fades away.

@ Robin, I do hope this is a wake-up call for him. He is a good player but you also have to have some character to go along with that.
